The Regents Bachelor of Arts, offered by the College of Education and Human Services, is a popular option for adult learners who want to return to school. The RBA undergraduate program is designed for working adults who want to complete their college degree. The program is accessible, responsive and purpose-built with the nontraditional learner in mind. It offers an opportunity to gain credits for work and life experiences, and allows students to tailor their academic careers to meet their individual needs. WVU offers adult learners, those who have been out of high school at least four years, the flexibility of completing this degree online.
Bachelor Degree: Students will learn best practices for early childhood and focus on advocacy and leadership in the field of early education. The program incorporates the West Virginia Core Knowledge and Core Competencies and the West Virginia Early Standards Framework in order to include the most recent requirements set forth by West Virginia agencies. The curriculum follows the standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Certificate: The Early Childhood Development Certificate is a specialized curriculum designed for those who work in Pre-K classrooms in the public school, Head Start and child care centers who must obtain a specific body of knowledge and need specific written recognition for their ability to work with preschool children.
The Infant/Toddler Certificate is a specialized curriculum designed for child care teachers and providers, Head Start teachers and WVU students who want to obtain this specific body of knowledge and who need specific written recognition for their ability to work with young children birth through three years of age. The specific body of knowledge in infancy and the toddler years satisfies new state and federal mandates that teachers of very young children must have formal recognition of their training with infants and toddlers to obtain and/or maintain employment. There are 19 hours in the Infant/Toddler Certificate program. This CDFS certificate incorporates the West Virginia core knowledge and core competencies and the West Virginia Early Standards Framework: Infant/Toddler in order to include the most recent requirements set forth by WV agencies responsible for the birth-three years. The certificate is free standing or can be taken with a degree program.
The online undergraduate degree in General Business, offered through the WVU College of Business and Economics, gives students an overall understanding of business and how organizations operate. They also learn business and management skills, including the ability to research, interpret and use business and financial data. Graduates of this program are well prepared to enter corporate management training programs, or to apply their skills to virtually any industry.
The online undergraduate Bachelors of Multidisciplinary Studies program, which is offered through Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, does not limit students to a course of study in one particular area. Students have the ability to tailor this degree to meet their individual career needs by choosing three minors instead of one major. By selecting three minors that work well together, students will obtain a breadth of knowledge from each subject area that can be used to market their unique skills. WVU has also partnered with several Community and Technical Colleges to make it easier to transfer in credits and finish the bachelor’s degree online. Upon graduation, students can attend graduate and professional school, pursue employment with government or corporate America, or even build their own business ventures. The B.MDS degree requires 120 credit hours for completion, while offering students flexibility in both delivery and learning.
The WVU School of Nursing RN to BSN program offers licensed registered nurses who are graduates of diploma and associate degree nursing programs the opportunity to complete requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN). The online RN-BSN program is designed for completion in three semesters of study once all general education requirements are completed. All nursing courses are offered online, and a total of 28 credits of nursing coursework are required to complete the RN-BSN program.
