  • HVAC Technician - Diploma
    Building & Construction

    Blue Cliff College's HVAC Technician Diploma program prepares students for entry-level employment in the HVAC industry through a combination of technical coursework and hands-on laboratory training. The 900-hour program is designed to be completed in approximately 11 months and is available at the Gulfport, MS campus.

    HVAC technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems that homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and industrial facilities depend on every day.

    Throughout the program, students develop the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to work across residential and commercial HVAC systems, including:

    • Air conditioning and refrigeration fundamentals
    • HVAC system installation and design
    • Residential and commercial heating systems
    • Heat pump systems
    • Electrical theory and motor controls
    • Commercial refrigeration
    • Blueprint reading and construction mathematics
    • EPA regulations and refrigerant handling
    • OSHA safety practices
    • Professional workplace skills

    As part of the program, students prepare for and are required to successfully complete the EPA Section 608 Core, Type I, and Type II certification exams. Graduates are also eligible to sit for the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification examination, an industry-recognized credential that can strengthen employment opportunities.

    The program concludes with a professional development course covering resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace readiness to help graduates successfully enter the workforce.

  • Cosmetology Diploma
    Cosmetology & Wellness

    Cosmetology Program

    Cosmetology is the study of beauty, encompassing hair care and styling, skin care, makeup application, and nail services. Some graduates choose to specialize in a specific area, while others build a broad range of skills to offer a full suite of beauty services.

    Program Length

    The Cosmetology diploma program at Blue Cliff College requires 1,500 clock hours. Full-time students complete the program in 12 months. At Louisiana campuses, a part-time evening schedule is also available, with a completion time of 19 months.

    What the Program Covers

    Students receive hands-on training across all core areas of cosmetology, including:

    • Hair cutting and styling, including blunt, graduated, and layered cuts
    • Hair texturizing, chemical relaxing, and perming
    • Hair coloring, lightening, and special effects
    • Skin care, facials, makeup application, and lash services
    • Nail services including manicuring, pedicuring, tips, gels, and acrylics
    • Infection control, anatomy, and the science of cosmetology
    • Salon business development and professional skills

    Students complete hands-on skills work with mannequins and real clients in the student salon, under the supervision of licensed instructors.

    Licensure

    Upon completing the required clock hours, graduates are eligible to sit for the Louisiana or Mississippi cosmetology licensure exams. Blue Cliff College prepares students for this step as part of the program.

    Cosmetology & Wellness

    Esthetics Program

    Blue Cliff College's Esthetics program prepares students for a successful career in skin care through a combination of theory coursework, hands-on demonstrations, and practical client experience. The curriculum meets Louisiana's esthetics licensure standards while going beyond board exam preparation to build a strong foundation for long-term career growth.

    In addition to technical training, students learn job search skills, resume writing, interviewing, and professional development - giving graduates the tools they need to enter the workforce or move into management roles.

    Hands-On Learning Environment

    Each Blue Cliff College campus features a student clinic where esthetics students practice their skills on real clients, along with a student lounge and a resource center with computer and internet access.

  • Massage Therapy - Diploma
    Cosmetology & Wellness

    Massage Therapy Program

    Massage therapy involves the use of hands and lower arms to manipulate muscles, ligaments, tendons, and skin to promote general wellness or address specific ailments.

    Program Length

    The Massage Therapy diploma program at the Gulfport, MS campus requires 775 clock hours. Students can choose from two scheduling options:

    • Daytime schedule: 9 months
    • Evening schedule: 15 months

    What the Program Covers

    Blue Cliff College's Massage Therapy curriculum meets state licensure standards and includes both classroom instruction and supervised clinical work. Subjects covered include:

  • Clinical Medical Assisting
    Healthcare & Medical

    The Clinical Medical Assisting diploma program provides an in-depth study of the medical science of the human body including anatomy, physiology and pathology of the body systems, clinical techniques including examining room procedures, medical lab procedures, medical terminology, pharmacology and administrative procedures.

    The Clinical Medical Assisting diploma program prepares the graduate to pursue entry-level positions in the healthcare field working in clinical and/or administrative settings under a variety of titles: Medical Assistants, Medical Receptionist, Medical Office Administrator, Medical Technician, Cardiac Technician amongst others.

    • Perform basic laboratory test
    • Record patient history and personal information
    • Measure vital signs, such as blood pressure
    • Help physicians with patient examinations
    • Give patients injections or medications as directed by physicians and as permitted by state law
    • Prepare blood samples for laboratory tests
    • Enter patient care information into medical records
    • Instruct patients about medications or special diets
    • Prepare patients for x-rays
    • Change dressings

    The Program length for Day classes is 9 months. The Program length for Night classes is 15 months.

  • Dental Assisting - Diploma
    Healthcare & Medical

    Dental Assisting Program

    Dental assistants play a hands-on role in keeping a dental practice running smoothly. Responsibilities include preparing instruments, taking X-rays, educating patients on oral hygiene, managing records and appointments, and sanitizing equipment.

    Program Length

    Blue Cliff College's Dental Assisting diploma requires 958 hours (59 credits) to complete. Both daytime and evening class schedules are available:

    • Daytime: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (11 months)
    • Evening: Monday through Friday, 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm (15 months)

    Occasional weekend sessions may also be required, held Saturday or Sunday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

    What the Program Covers

    Students gain exposure to a wide range of subjects throughout the program, including:

    • Anatomy, physiology, and oral histology
    • Tooth form, structure, and preventive dentistry
    • Dental health and nutrition
    • Infection control and radiography
    • Dental laboratory procedures and orthodontics
    • Patient care and healthcare laws (OSHA and HIPAA)
    • Dental office administration and management

    Externship

    Toward the end of the program, students complete an externship in a working dental office, gaining real-world experience under the guidance of licensed professionals.
