Dental assistants perform a wide range of duties in dental care facilities, from patient care to office tasks and laboratory procedures. Students become skillful at taking X-rays and impressions, as well as performing coronal polishing and assisting with an array of dental procedures. The program covers patient preparation, charting, administrative duties and office administrative functions. Students gain hands-on experience during lab class sessions and clinical experience.

The Medical Assisting program at Carrington College comprises three educational areas: clinical, administrative and externship. Students enhance skills such as word-processing, typing and keyboarding. Throughout the program professionalism, client relations, critical thinking, adherence to the ethical and legal requirements of a medical practice and proper communication skills are emphasized.

The mission of the Veterinary Technology program is to provide local and global veterinary communities with ethical graduates committed to lifelong learning and professional development. Graduates will have the entry level skills and knowledge required for the contemporary veterinary practice. The core program focus is companion-animal practice, but all facets of veterinary medicine, including large animal medicine, biomedical research and industry-related topics are emphasized.

Carrington College’s Respiratory Care / Respiratory Therapy program prepares graduates to work in a variety of medical settings helping patients work on breathing and other respiratory problems.

Respiratory therapists care for those who have trouble breathing. Some of the most common chronic respiratory illnesses are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, occupational lung diseases, and pulmonary hypertension.

Some common job duties of a respiratory therapist include:

• Interviewing and examining patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders
• Consulting with physicians to develop patient treatment plans
• Performing diagnostic tests, such as measuring lung capacity
• Treating patients by using a variety of methods, including chest physiotherapy and aerosol medications
• Monitoring and recording patients’ progress
• Teaching patients how to take medications and use equipment, such as ventilators

Carrington College’s Veterinary Assisting program prepares students for the clinical, lab and administrative duties required for entry-level employment as a veterinary assistant. The program concludes in an externship that allows students to practice skills in an actual veterinary health care setting.

Carrington College's Medical Office Administration program offers comprehensive, hands-on training to prepare you for critical front-office roles across various healthcare settings, including private practices, clinics, facilities, or even insurance companies. In as few as nine months, you will develop essential administrative and clinical skills. The curriculum focuses on practical experience, teaching you vital tasks such as: Medical Billing and Coding: Learn to accurately process patient accounts and insurance claims. Patient Recordkeeping: Master managing and maintaining computerized medical records with precision and confidentiality. Office Management: Gain expertise in the daily operations of a medical office, from scheduling appointments to handling correspondence. Communication and Professionalism: Develop strong interpersonal skills crucial for effective patient interaction and collaboration within a healthcare team. Emergency Preparedness: Understand how to respond calmly and efficiently to various emergency situations within an office environment.

The Pharmacy Technology program provides both theory and practical training, which enables technicians, upon licensure*, to function as competent entry-level assistants to a licensed pharmacist. The program offers:

• A combination of formal classroom instruction and hands-on training
• Valuable real-world experience through a clinical externship at an approved local facility
• Preparation for the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) national certification exam
