Lake Erie College
For 160 years, Lake Erie College has been educating students for the world after college. We combine a liberal arts education with online degree flexibility and practical "real-life" experiences. At LEC, students learn to communicate effectively, think critically and creatively, and make informed decisions.
In 2016, Lake Erie College recognized the need for skilled trade workers in the Northeast Ohio community and proudly launched an evening HVACR program for working adults. Along with a desire to meet the needs of the community, the program grew out of a desire to give students the opportunity to work on live systems and diagnose real problems, discover solutions, and implement those solutions.
The College formed a partnership with Trane, who has been building training labs across the country, and NC3, an HVACR training company. Together, they developed a state of the art Trane lab housed at Lake Erie College. The program’s mission is to educate those who want to get into the trade field and help companies seeking quality trained professionals to fill their staff. The program has since trained many students in commercial and residential HVACR and prepared them for a solid career in the industry. www.lec.edu/hvacr
Building Systems, Construction, and Manufacturing
The HVACR certification and training program at Lake Erie College is focused on preparation for technician-level certification from the National Coalition of Certification Center (NC3).
Our state-of-the-art labs afford students the opportunity to train on the newest and most advanced HVACR systems and to apply both practical and classroom concepts on real-world systems. Students also take their newly honed skills from the lab and apply them in real-time, working on the 160-year-old systems across the LEC campus. Students not only graduate the program as certified HVACR professionals, but with one year of work experience!
With three convenient evening classes per week, the HVACR program can be completed in as little as eleven months with four unique course modules.
Coursework will cover everything from electrical processes to refrigeration, air distribution, ventilation, and more, affording the student an innovative and sustainable perspective on installing, maintaining, and repairing vital quality-of-life systems as an HVACR technician in both residential and commercial settings.
