Florida Technical College was established in 1982 to offer post-secondary education in specialized business fields. The main campus in Orlando opened that same year, followed by the Lakeland campus in 1990 and the DeLand campus in 1997. Additional campuses were launched in Kissimmee, Pembroke Pines, and Tampa in 2011, with the South Miami campus opening in 2015.

After four decades of serving Florida’s educational needs, Florida Technical College has officially merged with NUC University, its former sister institution. NUC University has also expanded its reach by incorporating three additional institutions: the Digital Animation & Visual Effects (DAVE) School, Hillsboro Aero Academy (HAA) in Florida, and the IBC Technical Division in Puerto Rico. Collectively, these institutions now operate 15 campuses and serve over 25,000 students across Florida and Puerto Rico.

  • Graphic Design - Diploma
    Art & Design

    The Graphic Design diploma program will prepare students with the competencies required for
    planning, analyzing, and creating effective visual communication. Additionally, students will
    apply sketching, color, typography, illustration, and printing techniques for designing
    competitive visual statements or arguments. Students will also create designs for multimedia,
    corporate identity, videos, web, social media, and advertising, among others. They will develop
    skills in managing and operating a graphic design business. Graduates of this program may be
    able to work as graphic designers or artists in print shops, advertising and marketing agencies,
    and public or private companies, either in-person or remotely, or as owners of their creative
    businesses.

  • HVAC/R with PLC - Diploma
    Building & Construction

    The HVAC/R with PLC Diploma Program offers students the technical and practical knowledge and skills to perform heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration maintenance, assist with installations, and repairs.

    Students will also learn basic skills related to programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Graduates from this program will be able to fill positions at construction firms, as well as residential and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning companies.

    Students are eligible to take the following certification tests: EPA 608 Universal and OSHA 10 Safety. A total of 920 contact hours is required and divided into 500 lecture hours and 420 lab hours. Employment opportunities include HVAC Mechanic, A/C Tech, Installer Assistant, HVAC Service Technician, Systems Maintenance Mechanic.

  • Electrical - Diploma
    Building & Construction

    In the Electrical Diploma Program, students will develop technical skills and practical knowledge within the electrical trade. They will perform installation tasks, services, and repairs. Graduates from this program will apply their acquired skills in the fulfillment of positions as electrical assistants. Students are eligible for certifications in: OSHA 10 Safety Training Course, NCCER Core Curriculum, NCCER Electrical Level 1, 2, and 3.

    A total of 720 contact hours is required and divided into 200 lecture hour and 520 lab hours. The program consists of 46 quarter credits. Employment opportunities include Electrician’s Helper/apprentice (residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems), and Maintenance and Repair Workers.

  • Welding - Diploma
    Building & Construction

    In the Welding Diploma Program, students will develop technical skills and practical experiences related to cutting metal. In addition, they will interpret manufacturing and construction drawings and measurements used in the field. Students will also apply gained knowledge of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) processes, as well as pipe welding techniques related to these four welding processes. Students are eligible for certification of completion and membership for: OSHA 10 Safety Training Course, National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Core Curriculum, (NCCER) Welding Level 1, 2, and 3, and American Welding Society (AWS) Membership.

    A total of 960 contact hours is required and divided into 260 lecture hours and 700 lab hours. The program consists of 61 quarter credits. Employment opportunities include Aluminum Welder, Maintenance Welder, and Mig Welder.

    Building & Construction

    The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Diploma Program prepares students with the knowledge and necessary skills to develop efficient and safety-minded technicians that may be able to fill an entry level position in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning field. In addition, they will acquire the necessary skills, to perform installation tasks, service and repairs in heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment. This program is designed to prepare graduates to take the certifications from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

    Students are eligible to take the following certification tests: EPA 608 Universal and OSHA 10 Safety. A total of 960 contact hours is required and divided into 520 lecture hours and 440 lab hours. The program consists of 74 quarter credits. Employment opportunities include HVAC Repair Specialist, HVAC Assistant Installer, and HVAC Technician Apprentice.

    The Electrical with PLC Diploma Program prepares the student with technical skills and practical knowledge to perform installation tasks, services, and repairs in the electrical trade specializing in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Graduates from this program will be able to fill positions as an electrician helper for services and construction firms in residential, commercial and industrial businesses associated with the electrical trade industry. Students are eligible for certifications in: OSHA 10 Safety Training Course, NCCER Core Curriculum, NCCER Electrical Level 1, 2, and 3.

    A total of 900 contact hours is required and divided into 300 lecture hours and 600 lab hours. The program consists of 64 quarter credits. Employment opportunities include electricians' helper/electricians' assistant (residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems), maintenance and repair workers, and electrical service technicians.

    The Business Office Specialist diploma program prepares students with the knowledge and necessary skills to perform various business operational functions using computer equipment and software to manage technical, and administrative tasks in multiple office environments.   • IT with Emphasis in Cybersecurity - Bachelor's Degree
    Computers & Technology

    The Bachelor’s Degree program in Information Technology with Emphasis in Cybersecurity introduces students to a variety of topics, such as assessing the security vulnerability of computer and network systems, various computer and network safeguarding solutions, and managing the implementation and maintenance of security devices, systems, procedures and counter measures. As a graduate of the program, students will be prepared for a career as a developer of security design, information assurance, computer forensic investigator, ethical hacker, and/or any digital security related jobs. Students are eligible to sit for exams for:

    CompTIA A+ , CompTIA Network + , and CompTIA Security +.

    The duration of the program is 36 months and 181.5 quarter credits are required. The credits are divided into 75 credits lower level courses, 48 credits upper level courses, 54 credits for general education courses, and 4.5 credits for elective courses.

    The Computer Support Technician Diploma program prepares students to demonstrate proficiency in providing technical support and assisting users in troubleshooting, performing technical and system diagnostics, and making the necessary repairs. Students will examine computer concepts, information systems, networking, operating systems, computer hardware, software applications and the Internet. They will analyze the principles of customer service and the importance of problem solving and help desk supportive service. Students will develop the skills necessary to obtain an entry-level position in the field and prepare them to challenge the CompTIA A+ certification.

    The Medical Assistant Technician with Emphasis in Basic X-Ray Diploma program prepares students with the knowledge and skills to perform medical assistant with basic x-ray responsibilities.   • Medical Billing and Coding Specialist - Diploma

    The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Diploma Program is designed to prepare students to obtain entry-level positions in the medical billing and coding field through a combination of both clinical and administrative training. Students will learn and practice how to use management software and electronic health records (EHR). They will further become proficient in medical insurance and billing using the ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS II coding system manuals. The program is focused on preparing students for certification. Successful graduates of the FTC Medical Billing & Coding Specialist Diploma Program can be prepared to enter the professional workforce in approximately 9 months after 48 quarter credits! If you are looking for a professional office career that offers meaningful, rewarding work opportunities, medical billing and coding could be an excellent career path for you. The Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Diploma Program will help prepare students to obtain entry-level positions in healthcare administrative offices through a combination of clinical and administrative training. The program is focused on preparing students for certification. Students are eligible for certification in: National Certified Insurance and Coding Specialist (NCICS) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

  • Allied Health Management - Bachelor's Degree
    Healthcare & Office Administration

    The Bachelor’s Degree program in Allied Health Management is comprised of a combination of courses, providing skills such as managing the administrative area within a health services organization, medical law/regulations and current procedural coding with health information resources. The program is designed to prepare a student for a career as an administrator in the health services field.

    When graduates from this program have work experience in the medical field, upon completion of this program they can apply for healthcare management. The duration of the program is 27 months and a total of 187.5/188 credits are needed in order to qualify for graduation. Depending on graduates concentration track, they will be eligible to sit for one of the following exams through the American Academy of Professional Coders™ (AAPC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam, Certified Physician Practice Manager (CPPM®) exam or Licensure of Basic Machine Operator through the Florida Department of Health.

    Admission Requirements

    A student must first successfully graduate from an Allied Health (Medical Assistant Technician, Billing and Coding, or other) diploma or degree program, from either NUC-FTC or another accredited institution, as a prerequisite for enrolling into the Allied Health Management Bachelor program. External transcripts must be evaluated by Academic Affairs to determine transfer of credits accepted into the program.

  • Pharmacy Technician - Diploma
    Healthcare & Office Administration

    The Pharmacy Technician Diploma trains students in the knowledge and competencies required by the profession. Students will apply their theoretical and practical knowledge in preparing, compounding, dispensing, and supporting the administration of a pharmacy’s operations. Graduates of this program will be able to perform as pharmacy technicians (upon licensure) in different public and private scenarios, such as institutional pharmacies (hospitals), community pharmacies, wholesale drugstores, and health insurance companies, among others under the supervision of the license pharmacist, in compliance with the laws and standards of the profession and the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
