  • HVAC Technician
    Building Systems, Construction, and Manufacturing

    If you want a career without the boring, daily routine of being stuck in an office, it's time to check out the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) program at Southern Careers Institute. This program prepares students for positions at both the commercial and residential levels of HVAC.

    The HVAC program at SCI will teach you how to install, maintain, and repair essential temperature control equipment. You will learn by doing, alongside students just like you. As part of the SCI family, you will learn in a supportive, interactive environment from instructors who care about your success.

    At Southern Careers Institute, the HVAC program focuses on those skills you'll actually use in the real world. You will train on a variety of cooling and heating systems common to the industry and receive instruction on piping using a wide variety of materials. After you graduate, our career services team is ready to assist you with finding a position in the field.

  • Welding Technology
    Building Systems, Construction, and Manufacturing

    SCI will prepare you for welding safety, machine set-up, basic metallurgy, shop math, blueprint reading and welding symbols. You'll learn from knowledgeable instructors in a hands-on environment.

    After graduation, you may work in fabrication, cutting, soldering or brazing and our career services team will assist you with launching your career by helping prepare your resume, working with you on interview skills and networking with local employers.

  • Electrical Technician
    Building Systems, Construction, and Manufacturing

    The Electrical Technician program provides students with basic theoretical knowledge and skills on installation, operation, maintenance and repair of electrical apparatus and systems for both residential and commercial properties. Students are given instruction in the principles of electronics and electrical systems, wiring, power transmission, safety, appliances, estimation, testing, inspection, and applicable codes and standards. Note: required hours of “on the job training” beyond the completion of this program are necessary to apply for Texas state licensing. The Electrical Technician program prepares graduates for a career in the Electrician field at an apprentice level. Students will have the opportunity to learn the operation, installation, maintenance and repair essentials of electrical wiring, instrumentation, services and panels, and motors and motor controls. The knowledge and skills acquired in this program prepares graduates to begin working, under a Master Electrician, toward accumulation of required hours for state licensing. With these skills, graduates may find entry-level employment as wiring installers or technicians servicing electrical, instrumentation systems and/motors in a number of electrical and related trades. The average length of the program is 27 weeks for full time students.

  • Business Administration
    Business, Marketing, and Communication

    Southern Careers Institute’s Business Administration program is designed to train students for entry-level work in a variety of administrative roles. You’ll graduate from the program in 33-48 weeks with the knowledge and skills necessary to support business operations or start your own business. In addition to preparing for ESB certification, students will develop the proper work habits and customer service skills to identify and obtain a job.

    Medical Administration

    Campus: The medical billing and coding specialist program will teach you keyboarding skills, medical insurance billing, medical codes, computer applications, office procedures, business communication skills, and so much more. Upon completing the program (even years after you graduate), SCI’s career services team is here to help you jump-start your career better than any other medical billing and coding schools in the state.

    Online: The Southern Careers Institute medical billing and coding online courses are available to you anywhere with an internet connection! In true SCI fashion, this campus keeps you close to the things that matter to you; your family and your home.

    While this campus is digital in nature, it still has the supportive, family-like environment that Southern Careers Institute is known for.   • Pharmacy Technician

    Our pharmacy technician schools in Texas teach students a variety of skills including keyboarding, computer applications, pharmacy operations and procedures, basic pharmacology skills, and so much more. You will gain the skills you need to assist pharmacists and improve patient care. After graduating from the pharmacy technician program, SCI’s career services team is set up to help you get your foot in the door and launch your career in the medical field.

  • Class-A CDL Training
    Truck Driving, Transportation, and Mechanics

    The Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Program (CDL Driver Training) at Southern Careers Institute Leaves You Ready for a Career as a Commercial Truck Driver or Bus Driver.

    Receive training as a Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator from Southern Careers Institute. This program prepares our graduates to sit for the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A, CDL Class B) and start a career as a professional truck driver.

    Students will gain a solid foundation of knowledge, classroom work and hands-on, over-the-road driving training in a standard sleeper cab tractor with a 53’ trailer. The program follows a flexible schedule allowing full-time students to complete it in as little as four weeks.

    After graduation, our career services team will assist you with launching your career as a Commercial Truck Driver by helping prepare your resume, working with you on interview skills and networking with local employers.

    SCI Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator graduates have the opportunity to be employed as:

  • Automotive Service Technician
    Truck Driving, Transportation, and Mechanics

    The Automotive Service Technician apprenticeship program at Southern Careers Institute is an innovative learning experience that is used as a complete curriculum solution to manage and deliver a hybrid classroom program that is perfectly suited for today’s student combined with a comprehensive, hands-on apprenticeship led and taught by industry specialized automotive service experts.

    This program will provide students with the engaging, interactive content that they desire while the apprenticeship develops the students into a proficient, dedicated team member that understands the needs and culture of the sponsoring company.
