CBT Technology Institute has been preparing students for careers in high-demand fields since 1988. Founded by the Llerena family in Miami, the school has grown from a small vocational institution into a recognized workforce education provider with three campuses across the Miami area - Flagler, Hialeah, and Cutler Bay.

With more than 13,000 alumni and over 35 years of operation, CBT Technology Institute offers career-focused diploma and associate degree programs in HVAC, Electrical Technology, Information Technology, and more. Programs are offered in both English and Spanish, and are designed to align with real workforce needs through partnerships with local employers.

CBT Technology Institute is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE) and certified by the U.S. Department of Education to provide Title IV funds to eligible students.

  • Electricity Technician - Diploma
    Building & Construction

    CBT Technology Institute's Electricity Technician Diploma program prepares students for entry-level positions in the electrical industry through a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on lab training. Taught in both English and Spanish by industry-experienced instructors, the program covers the fundamentals of electricity, residential wiring, blueprint reading, and low voltage systems including fire alarm and security systems.

    The program is 24 credits and takes approximately 8 months to complete. Classes are available at all three CBT campuses in Miami - Flagler, Hialeah, and Cutler Bay.

    Students earn several industry-recognized certifications as part of the program, including:

    • NCCER Core and NCCER Electrical Level 1
    • OSHA-10
    • Fire Alarm System Agent
    • Burglar Alarm System Agent
    • Photovoltaic Energy Systems

    The curriculum covers the core skills and knowledge needed to work in the electrical field, including:

    • Fundamentals of electricity and electrical materials and components
    • National Electrical Code (NEC) regulations and residential wiring
    • Blueprint and technical diagram reading
    • Electric motor applications, control, and troubleshooting
    • Fire alarm systems installation and commissioning
    • Low voltage security systems including burglar alarm, CCTV, and access control
    • OSHA safety regulations and electrical codes

    Graduates are prepared to pursue roles including Electrician, Industrial Electrician, Maintenance Electrician, Control Electrician, and Electrical Troubleshooter across residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

  • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician - Diploma
    Building & Construction

    CBT Technology Institute's Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Diploma program is an 8-month, hands-on training program designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the HVAC-R industry. Combining practical lab work with real-world industry concepts, the program is offered in both English and Spanish and is available at all three CBT campuses in Miami - Flagler, Hialeah, and Cutler Bay.

    The program is 24 semester credits and focuses on giving students the technical skills needed to install, service, and repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Graduates who want to continue their education can also apply credits toward the Associate in Science in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating Technology.

    Students earn several industry-recognized certifications as part of the program, including:

    • EPA 608 and EPA 609
    • OSHA-10
    • NCCER Core and NCCER Level 1 Air Conditioning
    • Basic Refrigeration and Charging Procedures
    • Brazing and Soldering
    • Low GWP Refrigerant Safety

    The curriculum covers the core technical and safety skills needed to work in the HVAC-R field, including:

    • Fundamentals of electricity and electric motor applications
    • Refrigeration and air conditioning systems, service, and troubleshooting
    • Commercial refrigeration systems and installation
    • Air conditioning electrical systems and wiring diagrams
    • Air distribution systems and duct work
    • Basic construction fundamentals for HVAC
    • OSHA safety regulations and EPA compliance procedures
