  • Journeyman Welder
    Building Systems, Construction, and Manufacturing

    The Journeyman Welder Program prepares students for entry-level employment in the welding field. Midwest Technical Institute’s welding training provides the student the skills and hands-on training needed to become a proficient pipe welder using SMAW and TIG processes. MTI’s welding school teaches MIG & flux core welding and provides students skills in pipe welding and manufacturing.

    Welding classes also teach field and shop safety, pipe fitting skills and basic blueprint readings. The Journeyman Welder Program offers a greater scope of welding processes and allows the student additional time to become polished in a certain specialty.

    Students will receive MTI welding certification (see MTI Journeyman Welder Certifications section below) and, upon meeting graduation requirements of the program, the student will receive a diploma.

  • Medical Coding Specialist
    Medical Administration

    The Medical Coding Specialist Program provides the skills and knowledge required for entry-level positions normally available in medical offices, clinics, hospitals and insurance companies as a part of the healthcare team.

    Midwest Technical Institute’s medical coding training instructs students in the analysis of medical records (charts) and the assignment of codes for indexing diagnoses and procedures to provide information for reimbursement purposes. “Coding” refers to transforming the written or verbal description of diseases, injuries and procedures into numerical designations.

    Medical coding classes also include anatomy and medical terminology. Students will learn about diseases that affect the human body, etiology, pathology, symptoms, signs, diagnostics and treatment in order to properly code medical records. Students will become familiar with the content of the medical record, in order to locate information to support or provide specificity for accurate coding.

    For medical coding certification, students can sit for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Exam that is administered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) upon graduation from the Medical Coding Specialist Program.

  • Dental Assisting
    Medicine and Health Care

    The Dental Assisting Program at Midwest Technical Institute provides entry-level theory and hands-on training in basic and routine clinical and office tasks. This program will equip the dental assistant with the skills required to perform in a clinical, laboratory or office setting.

    The dental assistant will be able to assist in laboratory procedures, x-ray procedures, CPR and patient assessments. He/she will also be able to perform sterilization and infection control techniques, clinical procedures and equipment maintenance. In some venues, the dental assistant is expected to effectively handle administrative office procedures, including electronic record keeping, keyboarding, billing, coding, insurance claims and scheduling.

    MTI’s dental assistant training provides students a thorough understanding of dental-related ethics and other business principles that impact the practitioner’s relationship with the patient. For dental assistant certification, students are required to take DANB certification (Dental Assisting National Board) which includes: RHS (Radiology Health & Safety) and ICE (Infection Control Exam).

  • Medical Assisting
    Medicine and Health Care

    The Medical Assisting Program provides entry-level theory and hands-on training in basic and routine clinical and administrative tasks. Midwest Technical Institute’s medical assistant training provides the skills required to perform in either a clinical or office capacity. The graduate will be able to assist in EKG, x-ray procedures, first aid and phlebotomy, perform clinical procedures, prepare a patient for physical exams and assist the physician with other exams. The medical assistant may also help the physician with minor surgical procedures and can sterilize and care for instruments.

    In some venues, the medical assistant is expected to effectively handle administrative office procedures including electronic record keeping, keyboarding, billing, coding, scheduling, transcription and insurance claims. The medical assistant possesses a thorough understanding of health-related ethics and other business principles that bear on the practitioner’s relationship with the patient. To obtain their medical assistant certification, students will be scheduled to sit for the American Association of Medical Assistants’ (AAMA) National Medical Assistant (CMA) Certification Exam.

  • Professional Truck Driving
    Truck Driving, Transportation, and Mechanics

    20 days / 168 clock hours

    The 20-day CDL (commercial driver’s license) Training Course teaches students procedures and techniques through hands-on experience and classroom theory. Through Midwest Technical Institute’s CDL training, students will learn how to correctly and safely perform required skill standards and be trained for an entry-level position.

    The CDL classes will help prepare the student to pass the state licensing exam and obtain a CDL with the issuing state. The CDL course provides the student knowledge of the issuing state’s CDL, driver safety, air brakes, combination vehicles, log books, trip planning, public and employee relations requirements.

    Upon meeting completion requirements of the course, the student is entitled to a certificate of completion.
