    Laurel's Specialized Associate Degree Program prepares graduates for entry-level positions as residential, commercial and industrial electricians according to state eligibility requirements. The coursework will provide students hands-on experience and training in areas such as:

  • Welding & Fabrication with Pipeline Technology
    Building Systems, Construction, and Manufacturing

    Laurel's Welding & Fabrication with Pipeline Technology program will prepare graduates for entry-level positions in welding repair, welder fabricator, industrial mechanics, and pipefitter/welder.

    You will be trained in:

    • Welding procedures
    • Blueprint reading
    • Fabrication
    • Layout

    Coursework includes oxyacetylene welding, brazing, and cutting (OAW), Arc Welding (SMAW), MIG Welding (GMAW), Flux Cored Welding (FCAW), TIG welding (GTAW), Pipe welding and certification test preparation per current industry standards, practices and techniques.

  • Computer Network Security Technician
    Computer, Information, and Technology

    Laurel's 20-Month Associates Degree in Computer Network Security Technician trains students to install, maintain, manage and enhance computer networks. Students will learn about a variety of operating systems, including Linux, and Windows. This program also includes courses where you will learn to install, configure, maintain, and repair video surveillance, alarms, and other security equipment while conforming to all safety protocols and other relevant codes.

    In this 12-month immersive diploma program, students will develop a strong foundation in the art of cooking through theory, technique, and palate training. The Chef instructors will help train senses, guiding you through an incredible range of tastes and flavors, from herbs and condiments to vegetables and meats. At Laurel, you’ll also spend a semester growing and harvesting food in the on-campus garden, serving in the School Restaurant 'Gigi's Table' and working to create community events that celebrate and engage local farmers and producers. Students will also gain practical experience with these skills through on-the-job training in three separate internship rotations at some of our region's leading culinary providers.

    Laurel's Early Childhood Education program teaches students:

    • Techniques for observing and evaluating children’s performance, behavior, social development and physical health
    • Numerous aspects of children's development

    This program prepares students to work with children in preschools, daycare centers, and other child development centers. Early Childhood Education students are prepared to make learning come alive for all students.

  • Medical Billing & Coding - Online
    Healthcare Administration

    Laurel's Medical Billing & Coding program provides students with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and technical skills necessary for managing health information within the healthcare delivery system.

    The online program offers the skills needed to:

    • Resolve insurance billing problems
    • Manually file claims (using the CPT and ICD-10 manual)
    • Complete common insurance forms
    • Trace delinquent claims
    • Appeal denied claims
    • Use generic forms to streamline billing procedures

  • Respiratory Therapy
    Medicine and Health Care

    Respiratory Therapists are health care specialists who provide care for patients with breathing disorders. Care includes assessment, evaluation, and treatment of patients ranging in age from premature infants to the elderly.

    In this program at Laurel, students will start by developing basic medical skills like taking blood pressure and using oxygen delivery devices. Most importantly, you'll develop and sharpen your skills by applying this knowledge in clinical situations throughout the program.

    Once graduated, students will be able to take the Therapist Multiple Choice (TMC) Exam, and the Clinical Simulation (CSE) Exam.

    Laurel's School of Healthcare offers a 16-month Specialized Associate Degree in Cardiovascular Technology. Students in this program are trained in the performance of non-invasive testing such as EKG (ECG) and Cardiac Sonography/Echo procedures which provide valuable recorded data utilized in cardiac medical evaluation. Cardiovascular Technicians perform diagnostic, administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician.

    Medical Laboratory Technicians are valued members of the health care team who provide clinical information for disease prevention, medical diagnosis, and treatment of patients by processing specimens and performing laboratory tests.

    Medical Laboratory Technicians are an integral part of the healthcare field as they:

    • Collect samples
    • Perform tests to analyze body fluids, tissues and other substances.
    • Look for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms
    • Analyze the chemical content of fluids
    • Match blood for transfusions
    • Test for drug levels in the blood to show how a patient is responding to treatment

Laurel Institutes are proudly accredited by Accrediting Commission of Careers Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Accreditation is a form of quality control, ensuring that institutions of higher education satisfy certain standards. To ensure Laurel always meet those standards, Laurel is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, State Board of License Schools. Laurel is permitted to offer programs through the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical College Education; Laurel Technical Institute is Registered with the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools (No. 08-07-1870T (Hermitage) No. 14-07-2048T (Meadville)). Laurel is also approved to participate in NC-Sara through the PA Department of Education. We have programmatic accreditation through CoARC for our Respiratory Therapy program.
