HVACR Technology
Building & ConstructionCruz Institute offers an Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating Technology Helper program designed to prepare students for a hands-on career in the HVAC industry. The program runs 471 hours over 13 months and covers both the theoretical foundations and practical skills needed to work confidently with heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation systems. A major milestone of the program is preparation for the EPA 608 Certification, a nationally recognized credential required for technicians who work with refrigerants. The curriculum spans 20 modules covering everything from basic electricity and system components to troubleshooting, motor maintenance, and residential installation procedures. Classes are available in both English and Spanish, making the program especially accessible to bilingual students and Florida's large Spanish-speaking community. Upon completing the program and passing the certification exam, graduates are employment-ready to enter the workforce as certified HVAC technicians - a field with strong, consistent demand across Florida's residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
